Tsunami Revolution

It is difficult for me to find words as I watch news unfold of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan this week. What can any of us say that could possibly capture the magnitude of this kind of event, and the breadth of human suffering that unfolds when it happens?

It feels like there is too much pain happening in the world.  That somehow I need to hold in my heart, or find a way to fix the situation – and it is so big that it all just slips through the fingers of my comprehension.  And then I feel powerless.  Do you know what I mean?

I’ve been feeling this way for a while, even before the earthquake struck. I felt this way when people took to the street in Egypt and overthrew Hosni Mubarak last month. This feeling expanded when civil protest spread across other countries in Arab regions, including Libya where violence has become common in the last week and civil war seems possible.

In the US, I see this happening with workers in Wisconsin rising up to fight for collective bargaining rights.

I can’t remember a time when there were so many truly huge stories in the news at once.  Because I can’t find the words, myself, I’ve looked to see what the Akashic Records have offered to help find some bit of sense in what’s happening. I dug up some channelings from the Archives on my website. The one that struck me most is this:

“... Earthquakes are related to revolution; they often occur in a place where change either needs to take place, or where changes are taking place very rapidly. They certainly serve as a way to get your attention, not just those who experience the earthquake on the ground, but also those who learn about the earthquake through the news or through stories.

Another general purpose and effect of earthquakes is that they are a harbinger of change and they are a request for change. They ask you to release something. Whenever you feel an earthquake, hear about an earthquake, or read about an earthquake, it would serve you well to sit back and ask yourselves, “What can I release now?” “What in my life is outdated or old, what is no longer serving me and how can I let that go?” and finally, “Who am I becoming?” (July 2008)

I channeled this passage from the Akashic Records in July 2008. Back then I never would have dreamed that there would be a day when the news on TV would be reporting such dramatic social revolution unfolding in Arab countries at the very same time one of the biggest earthquakes hit. I did know then, and we all know now, that we are a global community. When something happens in one part of the world, we are all connected with it and it is all part of one story – our collective story.  The coincidence of huge changes happening across the world at one time is meaningful.  I think we are witnessing the truth of our collective story and learning how to change together for the better.

Looking ahead, I feel a powerful mix of fear and excitement. I can begin to imagine how people throughout the world might really step into collective empowerment and dismantle so many forms of oppression. And I feel afraid that much more pain and suffering will unfold along the way.

My heart goes out to people involved in disasters, both natural and human-made. May we all keep our hearts and our eyes wide open as revolution spreads and, hopefully, we continue to become a more peaceful and just human family.

Daily, Weekly and Monthly Messages

If you’ve visited my website, you’ve probably figured out by now that I offer channeled messages from the Akashic Records. I offer channelings on topics, and I offer a channeling for every day, week and month. The Monthly Message is a complimentary feature, and the Daily and Weekly Messages are available for members of my site.

Many people are curious about how, exactly, a channeling like this occurs. So I’ll tell you!

I sit down to channel the messages one or two months in advance. I try to do the channeling far enough in advance that I can’t have any preconceived ideas about what will be happening that would interfere with what I see in the Akashic Records. But I also try to do it late enough that the energy for that time period has taken shape so that I can see it clearly. About six weeks in advance usually hits the mark.

This is the place where I usually sit for channelings in my office.

When I sit down to perform a channeling, I really do just that. I sit in my office and access the Akashic Records for the time period I’m seeking. Then I ask three simple questions – What energy can we expect? How can we work with the energy? What else do the Akashic Records have to tell us?

I speak out loud to express the answers I see in the Akashic Records.  Once the message is recorded, transcribed and posted on my website, I have usually forgotten what it says. When it’s time for me to read the messages from my own personal perspective, I see it fresh just like you. It is always a curious process for me to arrive at time period and discover if the message really fits for me or not.

Someone recently wrote to tell me that she experiences the Daily Messages one day in advance, rather than on the day it is posted. I think this kind of thing happens for most people -- the messages hit the mark most of the time, but sometimes they don’t. It happens this way for me in my own life, too.

Why do we all experience the Messages differently? Well, because we are all different! I figure that sometimes I’m in synch with the universal rhythm and sometimes I’m not. And sometimes I am more sensitive and susceptible to that universal energy depending on what is happening in my life.

It’s also a matter of timing. Because the lines we place around periods of time are artificial, the energy for any given day, week or month bleeds into the time before and afterward. I think we experience the energy in unique ways based on what particular energy we need to experience for our personal journey. Sometimes we really need the energy of a particular day so we pick it up early, or feel it linger into the following day.

When you read the Monthly, Weekly and Daily Messages, I encourage you to sense your own attunement and make adjustments in how you read the messages so they fit the unique ebb and flow of your life. We each ride the waves of energy just as we need them to best suit our individual path. Celebrate the waves you catch and trust they will lead you right where you need to be!

Co-active Summit

Last week I flew from Seattle to Florida to make my first public appearance in four years. FOUR YEARS. I don’t know why it took me so long. I'd like to say I was just busy building my website and doing personal consultations, but I admit a secret fear of flying might have had something to do with it!

It was wonderful to be doing Akashic Records work with real people again! I do get to talk to some of you when I offer Live Channeling events by phone every month, but I miss seeing people -- real, live people like you!

I went to Florida to talk about the Akashic Records at the Coaches Training Institute’s Co-active Summit. If you are a coach or an organizational leader, you’ve got to check these folks out. They do some amazing work.

My wonderful colleague and business coach, Wayne Caskey inspired me to join him in presenting the Akashic Records as a way to facilitate a bigger way of seeing leadership and our place in human evolution. (Check out his website for more on this approach!)

Here I am, on the right, with Wayne in the middle.  We also presented with an amazing shaman, Heidi McBratney, on the left.
It was great fun to be surrounded by over four hundred coaches and leaders doing Co-active work.  What exactly is Co-active work?  Well, in three days of the Summit I heard a great many definitions, and the conclusion I’ve come to it this:  Co-active work means doing anything in a way that is centered on growing together, person-to-person, with mutual respect and empowerment.  This can apply to everything from a simple conversation to how an entire corporation is run.
This is a model that fits very well with what the Akashic Records have been telling us – that we must shift into ways of working that are mutually empowering.  Mutually empowering means that, even when one is “in charge,” they are not in charge at the expense of the free will and well being of others.  It means that we must change our ways of working together so that everyone wins.  When we do this, we can relax, be playful, and love each other more openly.
And I’m all for that!

I Wish I Had a Map

When I was young, no one ever told me that I would grow up to be an Akashic Records channeler.  As I've built my career (is it really a career to be a channeler?!  I still wonder....) I search far and wide for someone to tell me how to do this.  The business folks provide some help, the New Age folks offer insight, but there just is not a map for what I'm doing.  And maybe that is as it should be, yet I still long for a map.

The reason I’ve decided to write a blog is to make a space for Lightworkers to learn about what Lightwork looks like from the inside out.  I can't write your map for you, but I can show you mine as it comes along.

I know many of you read the channelings on my website, and you wonder how it is that I do what I do.

How exactly does channeling and other Lightwork, work?

How in heaven’s name does one run a successful business doing something like channeling?

And how on Earth does one straddle the “woo woo” world and the everyday world at the same time?

There really isn’t a map out there to tell us how to run a New Age business.  So we write the map as we go along.

I can tell you what it’s been like for me so that maybe you can avoid some of the mistakes I’ve made over the years.  And maybe you can share some of your experiences, too.  (There is a comment section on this blog, and I hope you use it!)

If we all share our experience, then together we can write the maps for how work gets done in an enlightened world.

In the weeks to come, you’ll see me explaining some of the nuts and bolts of working in the New Age movement.  You’ll see me explain more about the Akashic Records and how they relate to other spiritual tools and models.  You’ll see me go through the ups and downs of trying to be a real person with a real life – even as I work to be a clear channel for the Akashic Records.  And you will get to explore many resources that I find useful along the way.

My hope is that you will find a friendly voice who can help you navigate your own path – bridging the high ideals of New Age spirituality with the everyday challenges of human life.  I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t think any teacher does.  The new way of being in this world means that no one person has the map for all of us.  We create the map as we go, and if we share what we learn, we’ll all move forward together with grace.  Plus, everything can be so much more fun if we do it together!

Starting somewhere

Here it is.  My first blog entry.  I know there will be a day in the future when I’ve become comfortable with writing entries – when I’ve become witty and wise and easy with it.  I know someday I will look back on this entry with discomfort, knowing then that I could have done this better than I’m doing it now.

But I can’t skip forward to that easy sense of writing that will only come with experience.  And I won’t get there unless I begin now.  So here it is.  I have to start somewhere.

This is one of the spiritual lessons in life.  When I begin anything, I can sense that things could be, should be, will be better.  But I have to start somewhere and accept the inevitable flaws and mistakes that will occur along the way.  It's a leap of faith and an act of trust in what will unfold from here.  It also requires trust in my future self that I won't be too hard on this when I look back.  I think if we could all trust our future self to be easy on us, then we might make a few more leaps of faith!

So here it is.  The first blog entry.  I hope you will read and enjoy for months and years to come!
